Okay, I'll Share

Without further delay, here is the quilt I've been frantically working on the past week!

Haha, that's just the back. Which I love to death. It was so much fun figuring out how to make the most of that green fabric, since I only had a yard.

Here's the front:

I feel a little guilty sharing this quilt because it was so heavily inspired by this doll quilt. But I am just so happy with how it came out! I used Jenny's wonderful tutorial.

The quilt is 51"x51" - kind of a random size but great for a play mat or cuddling. I used thin cotton batting, making this my third true quilt sandwich quilt! Binding is mostly the blue dots with a few green dots thrown in.

I ended up wrapping it with the binding unfinished. I still had most of the handsewing to do, but there was just no way to get it all done. I finished while we sat around visiting after the shower!

Another Anniversary

Today is another anniversary, not quite on par with my wedding but still important to me - my 4th blogging anniversary! When I look back at some of my old posts, I feel like I have come such a long way, in my crafting skills, my photography, and even what crafts I enjoy.

I wish I had something fun to giveaway, like Beki. Instead I'm sharing the quilt I finished over the weekend for a friend's soon-to-arrive baby girl.

If you had told me four years ago when I started this blog that quilting would end up being one of my favorite activities, I probably would have chuckled and rolled my eyes. But now I love picking out the different fabrics, watching how my designs on paper turn into a finished quilt, pulling the quilt out of the dryer for that crinkly goodness.

I'm here in large part because of all the inspiration in the craft blogging community, all the wonderful folks who share tips and techniques. Thank you!

And, as always, thanks to all of my wonderful readers for your kind comments, and stopping by to see what I've been up to. You're all the best!

I can't believe it's done...

If I could play a little trumpet fanfare right now I would, that's how excited I am about this.

Many weeks past my OPAM deadline, the master quilt is actually done!!

I am so happy with how it came out - it is by no means perfect, it has so many "learning experiences"... But I love it!!

And it goes so far to helping our bedroom look "finished" instead of just tossed together. Please ignore the concrete floor - we're getting there!

52 Nights Update - Night 22 - I discovered last night that the new quilt fits in my washing machine, thank goodness. Part of my plan had been to wash it fairly often, since it will soon be covered in fur and possibly footprints (downside of having a dog door when it rains), so I was worried I'd have to drag it to the laundrymat every time! In addition to washing the quilt, I went running, did some more laundry, and picked out fabric for a new project. Great night!

Diamonds for Kali

This little baby blanket has been in my head for a long time.

I picked up the fabrics when I saw the Alexander Henry numbers print at JoAnns, it was just too cute to resist.

Then I saw the Zig Zag quilt at the purl bee but wanted to do a little twist on it.

Diamonds! It is quilted to fleece because I still love that so much. I'll add a few goodies to the package and then send it on its way to LA in plenty of time for the June baby shower. So good to have this finished!
