Like Candy

Despite a plan to avoid stash enhancing, I have been having trouble resisting all the vintage glass beads I keep finding on etsy.

They are just so pretty and colorful. I get mesmerized and just keep clicking "add to cart."

I have a few upcoming projects that will be a lot easier with a well-rounded bead stash, but that's a pretty poor excuse. I know I would buy them anyway.

Luckily these aren't all new, I have a teeny bit of self control.

Since a lot of these will get used in the near future, I can't make myself feel too guilty!

52 Nights Update: Night 12 I switched it up a little - after work I headed to a friend's house to take pics of her sweet 9-week-old daughter. Izabelle was pretty grumpy, so we're going to try again one morning since she's usually happier! Then home to work on some projects and make dinner. I had a few nights last week with an open schedule that I could have worked on projects and instead got sucked into the Tivo backlog, so it felt good to get back on track!

eBay Beads

I can't control myself! Here are some MORE beads I got on eBay. My deal with myself is I have to start cranking out actual jewelry from these or I can't keep adding to my stash. So pretty!

Rather than just let these sit around being pretty forever like often happens, I've already made a necklace out of them!

I messed up the ends so I had to use an extender chain to make it long enough, but it still came out pretty. Practice makes perfect!

Jackpot!!

Recently I remembered a little box I'd tucked away with all my fun jewelry from when I was a kid. Some of this stuff was my own, and some was handed down to me by my sister. After sorting through it and reminiscing quite a bit, I realized it was quite a lot of neat stuff!

I noticed a few trends... For one, I liked cats back then, too!

And hearts:

Aren't these telephone earrings funny?

And these bunnies are adorable! They won't be old earrings for much longer.

I also finished cutting out all the squares for the wedding quilt... Really makes me wish I had a felt quilt wall to arrange it all on instead of the kitchen table. Hopefully I'll start sewing on it this weekend!

Vintage Beads

Due to popular demand (okay, Katy asked me to post it) these are the beads I ordered from Ozzy's Beads:

From left to right, top to bottom, Sour Cherry Transluscent Glass Beads, Alexandrite Faceted Czech Glass Beads, Indigo Faceted Lucite Beads, Lime Green Smoky Glass Beads, and Hyacinth Faceted Glass Beads.

This picture is pretty crummy, so when I actually receive my order I'll post a better one. Actually, I probably won't be able to wait and I'll just start posting the things I make with them!!

Distractable

July's Month of Softies is "Sock it to me!" - Sock Monkeys!! I made a sock monkey a while back, so I was thinking of making a socktopus instead. I came to the laptop to find where I had seen one (Plain Mabel), and I got so distracted! For some reason I decided to do an eBay search for vintage beads, and I found a great eBay store with so many beautiful beads.

I spent way too long drooling over all the beautiful colors and shapes.

There are now ten items on my watch list, all from this store, and that's only because I made myself stop!

Next time I'm ready to order supplies (I placed another order today at Susie's Beads so I have to take a break) I'm going to have to go back to this shop and get some of these awesome beads.

In the meantime, I'll wait for my orders, and try to make a socktopus! Just not tonight...
